The pill makes your skin worse before it makes it better in most cases. It happened to me when I went on Yasmin, but with Yasmin, I only stayed clear for about 3 months. I recently went back on Demulen, another pill and I started clearing up immediately. I am at the end of month 3 right now and it has reduced new beakouts dramatically and I only have 2 active spots on my cheek that are going down.

I know it's hard but stick with the pill....if you stop now, you will have to start all over and you'll lose the progress you are already making.

Sky77>> That's right. After 3 months of being clear, I got more cystic acne than I had ever had. They covered my chin and jawline. Once I went on Demulen, all of that stopped. I still have a few on my cheek right now because I am about to get my period, but even when I get them now, they are not as bad as they used to be and they heal faster.

My obgyn was adament about keeping me on Yasmin, but I had to stand up to her and take control of my body. I am SO glad that I did.

Coloradogirl: yes, I love my bf very much also. I am happy you have a good man that is really to be by your side. I don't really think I'm going to get pregnant, I don't think we are ready for kids but if accidents happen than we would keep the child. I'm not quite sure I'll make a very good mum at the moment.. too emotional with the skin problem...

OnMyFace: You mentioned that when you went on Demulen you cleared right up with no initial breakout... what I was wondering about is: if a pill is suppose to be RIGHT for you, should you experience an initial breakout or should your skin just clear right up??? I wonder if there are any test docs can do to help you choose a pill that is suitable for you (i.e. hormonal test)??? .....I was going to try Yasmin but now I dont know anymore.... I hope you keep improving with Demulen...

Sky77>> Yasmin contains spironolactone, which is supposed to help with acne, but for me, it made it much worse. I don't know why this happened, but maybe I am allergic or sensitive to spiro. I guess you could say that Demulen is right for me because it cleared me up really quickly, but I can't guarantee that it will work for everyone.

The huge red bumps I am getting right now is really really strange... never had pimples like these before.... they aren't really lumpy, kinda flat but really red and there's no head in them. Usually my pimples go away pretty fast (within 3 days) but these just stay there just getting bigger and flatter...yuck!!!

Elsie: how long did your breakout last??? I really need to know...why did you quit BC?

OhMyFace: I did a lot of research before starting BC and I thought OrthoCyclen was suppose to be less androgenic compared to Demulen.. I guess you'll just never know... do you think I should stick with Ortho for another 2 months and see... I have until sunday to decide whether I should continue or not...
