I have Kaiser too, and when I asked about Yasmin they said they didn't cover it, and when I asked about being put on something similar to Diane 35 they told me they'd never heard of it. Bear in mind this was just a GYN nurse I was speaking to. So they've put me on Zovia, which is similar to Demulen. I'm only on my first month, so I don't know how it's going to work.
Yasmin has drospirenone in it, and I believe it's the only one that has that type of hormone in it, so there's not another bcp you can get like it. I always break out about a week and a half before my period, and have been trying various bcp over the years (I think this is my 5th one). Some are better than others but none have completely worked, but I'm not on bcp just for that reason. It would just be a nice bonus! I took doxycyclin for a couple months and that worked great, but it didn't last. I also use Avita, which I love, but it only helps some. If this doesn't work, I'm going to make a visit to the derm and either ask for spiro or find out if I can get my hormones checked.
