I broke out with an allergy from one of my many
medications about six weeks ago. I had been on some of them for at least five years or more. That allergic reaction surprised me, but the doctor said it can happen. The doctor took me off of four suspected medications. I went to a dematologist and was given a cream to clear them up. They finally cleared up after about 2.5 weeks.
I then introduced myself back to each of the medications. The first (number 1) I took for 2 weeks. No allergy. I then began the number med number 2. Within 5 days I began to break out again. I called the pharmacist and he told me it would take 7 days for med 2 to get out of my system and the dermatologist told me to start back on the cream..
Question 1: Can I still keep breaking out if the med is suppose to be out of my system? Today is the 7th day and I noticed I am starting to break out on my legs. Just slightly, but there are rashes in small places on my shin.
Question 2: The atopical medication is Clobetasol Propionate Cream .05%. Has anyone ever used it? Could it get into you blood stream and cause problems?
Question 3: Does it sound like it is med 2 which is Lipitor? I have been on it for probably ten years if not more. In fact all of these medications I have been on for at least three years or more. The first time the allergy did not start until the dosage of med 1 was increased from two to three pills per day. But I didn't break out for two weeks when introduced back to it at just 2 pills per day. I wasn't going to go to that 3rd pill. So I have been on 2 mg of pill one for two weeks. It was within five days of taking med 2 that the rash began to come back.
Question 4: I have never ever been allergic to anything. This is a first and I can really sympathize with those of you that have them often. I can't keep my hands from scratching myself. Thanks for any response. This may be to confusing. I am going insane with the itching although it was worse the first time I broke out. Any help or advice would be truly appreciated. Oh, I called the pharacist this afternoon and he told me this cream is for getting rid of the rash and not so much for controlling the itch.- sam
