first I do not know the dosage of your vicodin. But if you are taking more than about 50 not 500 mg a day you are addicted. It is as highly addictive as valium. If your back problem will not resolve itself with one physical therapist i would change to another..they all do different exercises. The rolled tube that is about 4 feet long and about 12 inches in diameter on the floor with another person working with thera bands is good. the pelvic tilts are good, and learning to walk properly ( walking in non alignment can keep backs out of whack) The best one I found exercise whise is to stand up against a wall, raise my arms over my head and bring my arms slowly down again,,trying to act as if you were going to join your elbows behind your back,,,that means keeping your arms still pressed against the wall while they descend. It will cause your back to pop, so do not fear you are doing more damage. It actually relieves stress. BUT THE VICODIN IS NOT GOOD LONG TERM LIKE YOU ARE TAKING IT, AND THERE ARE OTHER REGIO SPECIFIC DRUGS THAT WILL KILL THE PAIN AND TAKE INFLAMATION OUT OF YOUR BACK SPECIFICALLY. Have you been to an orthopedic doc? They are the ones who will know better than a genral doc. Besides sciatic nerve problems are best treated with a combo of again calcium magnesium for the nerve conduction, and exercise. physical therapy is only good if you follow through and keep up the exercises at home also. they need to be done daily if not twice a day. every day not just in the pt's office.

As for the herbal remedies, maca will not hurt you. and calcium magnesium will also help to ease the back problem,,it is a mineral that in your stage of life you should be taking anyway.

As for the adrenal test, I would forget about taking it. You are not experiencing symptoms of it really. The blood test I do not know of since I have never heard of that method before. The urine one is to see what if any antibodies have been spilled into the urine,(waste material of the body) to see what is happening with them,,it is the most effective to see what is there.but again, you do not seem to have that problem, you grasped at it when someone said it might be a cause.

If you follow your posts you were fine on the thyroid meds from april to mid july. and in a subsequent post it was revealed it was at th same time you started the valium.

Have you ever heard of patterning?
patterning is how habits are formed in our subconcious mind. We experience some event, and we either like or dislike it. we remember how physically we reacted to this event subconciously. The next time we are faced with a similar event we react again subconciously the same way. it becomes such a pattern that our concious mind never realizes that these reactions have become a habit. Like people who are in school and freeze up once taking a test. They may fail, The next time they face a similar test, they may feel physically the same feelings and again freeze up. after a while without even thinking more and more of the tests they take have the same reactions physically. Until the time when all tests are now reacted to the same way. the subconcious mind has patterened a response to a given set of stimuli. and conciously we are unware that it has become habit not reality that we react in this way. again now you say when you were 30 you had this problem to drugs and an allergic reaction. You mentiond something in a post this summer about mevacor, and zocor, and were afraid to take the new med pravacol. I see you patterning in on your fears of taking meds you do not want.

The only drugs you seem to have tolerated are the ones that mellow you out. On the amount of vicodin, even just 1 1/2 pill per day, you should not be driving. it is considered bad. I was taking vicodin for my snius tumors. I have a high tolerence for pain killers. yet i would feel groggy and very relaxed. That is form one pill, and my body mass is more than twice yours. And I do not believe both your pharmacist who would know better than that! and your dr, would both say that that long term drug would be ok. Have you ever heard of the betty ford clinic? It is filled with people who have denied taking simple pain killers and such were not harming them and all was ok?

in my opinion I would....
1. get to an orthopedic dr, and be treated properly for the sciatica nerve problem (it is what is causing the back problem) also it is antoerh problem you may not have when your meds are balanced since you are exhibiting a classical symptom of torn and damaged tissue due to low thyroid.

2. get off the pain meds and the valium, and get a natural sleep aide. No dr. would say that a natural sleep aide is not good and to stay away from them, that is hogwash.

3. Take your thyroid meds and get them to the proper dosage and do not fear them. Your anxiety levels will lessen, your back problems casued from sciatic nerve problems will start to clear, your sleep with time will improve, and you will be health\ier for it.

4. counseling would be good (this is not a bad thing, like it was considered when you were younger) It will help you to un pattern your responses. and deal with your fears.

5. then treat yourself to something special, after all of this, you deserve a reward for regaining control of your life.

last just keep this thread and posts confined to this one posting insetad of posting a new thread each time you answer.
